Does Mrs. Gee like me?

H. Gee, the infamous shop on Mill Road featured in my song So Many Voices (and to a certain extent, Dog Walking). I haven't written a new song on it for a while, but I still go in every few days to get odd bits and pieces.  I think the last bit I bought from there was a power adapter and some solder.  Anyhow, I was in there a couple of weeks back and my friend Kevin, whom I hadn't seen for time came in the door.  We started a conversation as you do, and right in the middle of a sentence, good ol' Mrs. Gee interrupted and asked Kevin..... 'Do you want to be served?' and that was the end of our conversation right there.  It kinda seemed as if she wanted our conversation to end, like the shop isn't a place for talking, which I'd tend to agree with, but we'd only been going a minute or so and besides Mrs. Gee and I usually have a good understanding, especially since I managed once to get a dude out from the shop who was high on smack and literally curling up in the corner (all affable in the end, helped him out).  So, I left feeling quite bemused that our conversation was cut short all so rather abruptly.

Then, yesterday, I was in the shop telling Mr. Gee and the grey haired guy who's name I've forgotten, that I'm having massive trouble soldering this 7 pin XLR lead and its really causing me problems and I don't think that I can do.  As I'm a regular, after a while Mr. Gee suggested that I go see the guy over the road but if he couldn't do it, then I could give to him and he'll have a go, at which point Mrs. Gee rocks in and says 'Don't get involved!'...........

So, I'm starting to wonder, does Mrs. Gee like me?

  1. Priscilla is pretty prickly. She was spectacularly rude to me once and i just gave her a bit of a long stare and after a little while she said "I like your hat" almost as some sort of recompense.
